Lubbock, Texas

Jones AT&T Stadium has been the home of Texas Tech football since 1947. It remains one of the most recognizable venues in West Texas, drawing tens of thousands of Red Raiders fans on game day. As collegiate athletics facilities have raised the bar for fan experience, recruiting, and player development, Texas Tech invested in a major multi-phase expansion of the stadium’s south side to keep pace with the demands of college football.
The stadium AV integration transforms the south side into a game-day hub for hospitality, player development, and recruiting. The first phase delivered new seating and concourse areas in the South End Zone. It also included new suites, alumni club areas, a recruit lounge, and the home locker room. The second phase delivered the Womble Center. This added fitness areas, sports medicine facilities, and coaching offices, giving the program a home for training, recovery, and operations.
Concourse Digital Signage and Seating Displays for Game-Day Fans
Digital signage displays and distributed speakers were installed throughout the new South End Zone concourse areas. These provide wayfinding, branded content, and audio coverage for fans on game day. The signage and audio systems create a consistent fan experience across the public areas of the new end zone.
A distinctive feature of the South End Zone is the new loge seating area, where each seat has its own display mounted in a weatherproof enclosure. These seat-side displays allow guests to watch the live broadcast and instant replays without taking their eyes off the action. This combines the in-person stadium experience with the broadcast feed fans expect from watching at home. Building outdoor-rated displays into open-air premium seating required weatherproof enclosures rated for the West Texas climate and integration with the facility’s video distribution platform.

Stadium Suite and Club AV Systems with Independent Room Control
Video systems are in every suite and meeting space across the South End Zone. Occupants can use individualized controls to switch video sources and adjust audio, without affecting the rest of the facility.
The room-level control approach lets the athletic department operate dozens of premium spaces during game days and events, each running its own content and audio, while maintaining centralized oversight of the entire system from the facility’s technical operations.
Athletics Facility Video Walls for Team Theaters, Recruiting, and Training
The most important spaces in the Womble Center feature large-format direct-view LED video walls. These provide the immersive scale required for team meetings, player development, and recruiting presentations. LED walls in the Large Team Theater, Small Team Theater, Walk-Through room, and Recruit Theater are sized and configured for the function of the space. The functions include a full-team film review, immersive walk-through training, and a visual experience used for prospective student-athletes.
A large LG video wall was installed in the fitness center, supporting training content, branding, and visuals for athletes during workouts. Each LED wall integrates with the facility’s centralized video distribution platform and routes content from coaches’ laptops, broadcast feeds, film review systems, and live practice footage.

Compressed Stadium AV Integration Schedule and Game-Day Deadline
The schedule was the most significant challenge on the project. Construction delays compressed the time available for installation and commissioning. The facility’s first use was a fixed, non-negotiable date: the first home football game of the season. Everything needed to be complete and working for the fans, alumni, and broadcast operations on game day.
“In the final weeks before that first home game, the entire team came together and worked some very long days to get all of the systems ready for game day. It all came together, and our client, consultant, and the alumni were very pleased with the result.”
— Ford AV Project Team
On game day, every system performed as designed. The Ford AV crew was on site to resolve any issues that might arise and support the athletic department’s technical staff through the first use of the facility. The project also includes ongoing AV support, extending Ford AV’s partnership with Texas Tech Athletics beyond the initial installation.
