Ford AV partnered with the City of Dacono to deliver a comprehensive municipal security camera system upgrade to better support outdoor conditions, evolving operational needs, and future growth. Ford AV extended its expertise indoors, designing and implementing a fully integrated audiovisual solution for council chambers, meeting rooms, and conference spaces to accommodate both in-person and remote participation.
Expanding and Modernizing the Avigilon Security Camera System
This project focused on upgrading and expanding the city’s Avigilon security camera system. Ford AV increased camera coverage across key exterior areas and replaced older camera models with updated PTZ security cameras, providing greater visibility, flexibility, and situational awareness.
The upgraded security camera system delivers clearer images, wider fields of view, and dependable performance in changing weather conditions. Supporting infrastructure protects cabling, connections, and mounting hardware.
Designing Outdoor Security Camera Infrastructure for Colorado Conditions
Because much of the system relied on outdoor security cameras, environmental durability was a major focus of the project. Careful coordination during installation ensured all materials, mounts, and enclosures were properly weather-rated for Colorado’s climate.
Ford AV worked closely with electricians to install bell boxes and outdoor-rated flexible conduits at camera locations, protecting cabling and connections from moisture, temperature changes, and long-term exposure. Heavy rainfall during the first week of installation added complexity, but the team adapted quickly to maintain progress while prioritizing safety and quality workmanship.
Installation for a Reliable Municipal Security Camera System
Several camera locations presented unique challenges, including rough stone building exteriors and difficult-to-access areas. In one instance, a new camera was installed on a stone wall using Hilti chemical anchors, creating a secure and durable mount while preserving the integrity and appearance of the stone surface. Another challenge involved accessing a camera location near a water runoff area alongside one of the buildings.
This demonstrates Ford AV’s ability to adapt installations to real-world conditions, ensuring each security camera system component was installed correctly. Once the upgraded cameras were brought online, the benefits of the enhanced system were immediately visible. The improved image clarity and coverage reinforced the value of the upgraded hardware, infrastructure improvements, and careful installation process.
Modernizing City Hall for Hybrid Meetings
The City of Dacono also recognized the need to modernize its new city hall to support hybrid municipal operations. Each council station was equipped with audio and video reinforcement to ensure every member could participate clearly. Multiple confidence monitors provide council members and support staff with the information they need during meetings. Presentation displays allow attendees to follow agendas and materials, and digital signage in the welcome areas keeps visitors informed.
To enable participation for remote attendees, the system includes a broadcast AV solution, allowing residents and officials to view proceedings from anywhere. Additionally, the video conference room includes beamforming microphones, cameras, integrated displays, and centralized control. This modernization of Dacono’s city hall ensures transparent, efficient, and connected municipal operations while complementing the upgraded security camera system.
