City of Beaumont Police Real-Time Crime Center AV System

Real-time crime center video wall displaying live camera feeds and public safety data

Ford AV delivered a state-of-the-art AV system for the City of Beaumont Police Department’s Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC), enhancing the city’s ability to monitor public safety, coordinate law enforcement responses, and manage critical incidents. This project transformed a floor of the existing municipal building into a fully integrated RTCC, tying into the city’s emergency operations command center and equipping officers, analysts, and city leadership with the tools they need to respond quickly and efficiently.

Real-Time Crime Center AV System: Enhancing Law Enforcement Capabilities

The crime center aggregates live feeds from traffic cameras, license plate readers, and other public safety technology to provide situational awareness across the City of Beaumont. The RTCC enables analysts and officers to monitor active incidents, coordinate emergency responses, and assist in investigative operations. Within just weeks of opening, the RTCC helped recover stolen vehicles, collect hundreds of thousands of dollars in outstanding fees, and assist in criminal investigations, delivering immediate, measurable impact for the city.

“We have been able to help recover stolen vehicles, sometimes as soon as an hour after the theft.”

— Misty, Crime Analyst, Beaumont Police Department

Ford AV provided a crime center AV system with video wall solutions, real-time data integration, and conference room collaboration tools. The system supports the mission of improving public safety while remaining scalable for future growth.

Real-Time Public Safety AV Technologies and Implementation

Ford AV implemented two primary video walls, one 3×6 and one 3×4 configuration, along with additional side displays. These walls allow dispatchers, analysts, and command staff to monitor live video feeds, license plate reader data, and other critical information simultaneously. The crime center AV system also integrated six RTCC workstations, two analyst rooms, a dispatch center, and conference rooms.

“During our second visit and we could see the first video wall we installed was in use. It was really rewarding seeing the impact our work was making on other people’s jobs. They all praised how well the system was working.”

— Ford AV Project Team

Centralized control and content sharing were provided via AMX encoders and networked racks, allowing officers to instantly broadcast feeds from any workstation to the video walls or conference room displays. The conference room was equipped with Microsoft Teams Rooms, enabling real-time collaboration between city leadership, the police department, and external stakeholders during critical events. In addition, a weather station was integrated into the system, providing the RTCC with live updates on environmental conditions that could affect field operations.

The technology selection and system design deliver a reliable, scalable, and secure AV ecosystem that could support 24/7 operations. The solution integrates with legacy systems while preparing the RTCC for future upgrades and enhancements, ensuring long-term operational readiness.

Crime Center AV System Integration and Legacy Compatibility

Integrating modern AV technology into an operational police environment presented several challenges. A key obstacle was incorporating older AMX systems with the latest AV technologies while maintaining operational continuity. Ford AV overcame this by conducting thorough onsite assessments, coordinating closely with the general contractor and city IT staff, and adapting the design to work with legacy equipment without requiring full replacement. Supply chain constraints and scheduling conflicts during the installation process required careful planning and phased execution.

Another challenge involved ensuring the RTCC network was robust enough to handle high-quality video feeds from multiple sources simultaneously. The Ford AV team worked with the city’s IT personnel to ensure connectivity across workstations, video walls, and conference rooms. Despite these hurdles, the project was completed on schedule, with systems fully tested and operational by the RTCC’s grand opening.

“The impact is significant for both responders and the community. This technology allows us to better serve the city and its citizens, and this technology tremendously impacts our ability to assist operations.”

— Misty, Crime Analyst, Beaumont Police Department

Crime Center AV System Impact: Real-Time Results for Public Safety

The City of Beaumont Police RTCC project delivered measurable results for law enforcement and public safety. Officers and analysts now have immediate access to live video feeds, license plate reader data, and citywide camera networks, enabling rapid responses to incidents and enhancing situational awareness across the city.

By combining AV solutions with integration into the emergency operations command center, the RTCC provides a model for real-time public safety technology that improves both officer effectiveness and community protection. The RTCC has also improved officer safety, allowing proactive monitoring of field operations and timely escalation when needed. The technology received positive feedback from city leadership, the police department, and community stakeholders, and has positioned Beaumont as a leader in public safety.
