PURPOSE:  This position exists to differentiate Ford AV designs and installations though the quality and performance of copper, fiber and wireless distribution systems leading to highly-reliable system operations and customer satisfaction.

JOB DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take ownership for the overall quality and delivery of copper, fiber and wireless distribution systems for projects sold and supported by Ford AV
  • Document and maintain standardized best practices and products used by Ford for the design, installation and testing of copper, fiber and wireless distribution systems
  • Develop and deliver training for job center personnel including but not limited to the design, installation and testing of copper, fiber and wireless distribution systems
  • Develop and manage compliance measures to ensure company-wide consistency for design and installation
  • Assist with performance testing, certification and documentation for copper, fiber and wireless distribution systems
  • Consult and assist for active customer jobs and service calls
  • Participate in meetings, including but not limited to, construction meetings and pre-sales meetings
  • Ownership and resolution of high-level technical escalations as the company subject matter expert
  • Provide consultation and assistance for internal Ford projects installing, servicing and updating our copper, fiber and wireless networks
  • Actively participate in Ford safety meetings, MIS meetings and training activities.
  • Participate in PM support activities and project reviews as required
  • Regularly update and maintain the BICSI Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual
  • Actively maintain RCDD renewal requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current and verifiable RCDD Certification (Registered Communications Distribution Designer)
  • Verifiable designs for large-enterprise data networks (copper and fiber) including wireless networks
  • Experience leading projects and managing crews to install structured cabling including backbone and horizontal cabling systems
  • Experience testing and certifying copper and fiber cabling systems
  • Construction experience
  • Proficient in reading architectural and system design drawings
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Empathetic, able to understand and support the success factors of other employees
  • Organized, Assertive and Decisive

RECOMMENDED SKILLS:

  • OSHA Safety Certifications
  • PMP and/or CTS-I Certification
  • Commercial Audio/Video/Lighting Experience
  • Interest in/knowledge of electronics
  • BA/BS Degree

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normally a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, with occasional outdoor exposure to heat, cold and environmental elements
  • Travel as required based upon your territory

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 10 pounds
  • Vision requirements:  Ability to see information in print and/or electronically
  • Manipulate, handle, feel, and control items or equipment
  • Able to read, write, and interpret written documents
