Ford AV technologically enhances new U.S. Capital Visitors Center
WASHINGTON D.C.— September 12, 2008— The U.S. House of Representatives has chosen Ford Audio-Video to provide AV integration to their portion of the Capital Visitor’s Center in Washington D.C. The 580,000 square foot facility is the largest project in the capital’s 215-year history.
Ford AV is excited to take a part in technologically turning the page on how visitors experience the nation’s capital. They will provide audio/video presentation systems, video conferencing and control systems in multiple meeting, hearing and conference rooms, as well as a flat screen distribution system.
Ford AV is no stranger to the House of Representatives. They have been the legislative body’s AV company of choice for 15 other jobs.
Tourism to the capital has increased from one million annually in 1970 to over three million in 2000. Many visitors were being turned away because the first come, first serve tours filled quickly. This prompted officials to make learning about Congress, the legislative process and the Capital not only more accessible but innovative to the public.
Visitors will now be able to experience the nation’s history through touch, sight and sound. They will not only get to see and hear the House of Representatives in action but watch videos on state of the art HD flat screen TVs. The facility also features two orientation movie theaters and an Exhibition Hall which includes rarely-seen documents and artifacts from the National Archives and the Library of Congress.
The CVC is scheduled to open in December 2008.
